I am USCG licensed and insured captain and a lifelong resident of Charleston. I have been interested in the beauty of the estuaries of Charleston since I was a kid. Thanks to my dad, I spent countless hours in the rivers and creeks around Charleston and developed a love for the wealth of beauty that nature offers us here in the low country. Later in life I moved from James Island to Folly Island, served as its mayor for a couple of terms, and got to know our little corner of the world pretty well.
I have been on the board of directors of SAVE THE LIGHT Inc. (www.savethelight.org) for twenty years. I have populated the Photo Gallery with photos I have taken myself including several of The Morris Island Lighthouse which helps to make the vista of Lighthouse Inlet so beautiful.
Now that I have retired, I am enjoying introducing locals and visitors to the beauty of the rivers, marshes and Inlets between James Island and Folly Beach. They are some of the cleanest and most beautiful in our state.
My personal goal is for you to come away with a deeper appreciation of the unique ecosystem that our rivers creeks and marshes represent. These systems serve as the nursery of the ocean. My trips allow a maximum of six people to see the intricacies of this wonderland from a comfortable and secure boat and at a leisurely pace. You will tour the creeks where only locals dare to navigate. There will be plenty of time for photography and time just to sit and take it all in. You can take a walk on the beach or the sandbar at Morris Island if you like. I will point out things of interest, and can help you identify birds and other animals that you might see. I am sure that you will be as fascinated as I am by the treasure that the salt marsh represents.
